Chen Shih-chung’s campaign visual identity is composed of three symbolic elements representing communication, unity, and progress. Through this visual system, we aim to convey a sense of stability, balance, and forward-moving strength.
For Taipei mayoral candidate Chen Shih-chung’s campaign business card, we designed a promotional identity version. In the early stages of discussion, Yanan hoped to express the concept of openness and transparency. We proposed using a recycled material we had previously recommended—the brightness enhancement film. This semi-transparent film was produced using silkscreen printing, with slightly rounded corners that prevent sharp edges while maintaining a clean, precise line quality.
Brightness enhancement film was originally a component of early LCD screens. Because screen light is naturally diffuse, the film uses refraction principles to redirect light into a more linear form, increasing perceived brightness. However, as LCD technology evolved and was replaced, this material became obsolete and was ultimately discarded, with no viable recycling pathway.
Through Renato Lab’s sustainability initiative, we became aware of this material. In this project, we aim to reinterpret it as a medium that conveys ideas of transparency and sustainability.
