Inspired by Taiwan’s hybrid aesthetics of the 1970s and 1980s, GAO deconstructs and recombines fragments of history, craft, and culture to create a contemporary dessert language. Each product is treated as a cultural object, named and composed to express purity of flavor and a dialogue with taste. The space itself extends this philosophy—serving not only as a place of exchange, but as an evolving platform shaped by collaborations, material experimentation, and ongoing conversations. At the intersection of taste and culture, GAO explores new possibilities for contemporary gift-giving. Fork the Future.

GAO inherits the elegance of classic pastry traditions while infusing them with contemporary energy and artistic sensibility. By transforming desserts into cultural vessels, GAO creates a site for modern sensory experiences and ongoing experimentation.

The logo combines the Chinese character 「髙」 with the English “GAO”—it is high, it is GAO, and it is also cake. This dual system balances literal meaning and symbolic expression. The English logotype uses Optima, a humanist sans-serif typeface with an inscriptional quality, while the Chinese logotype features custom-designed strokes that emphasize local language, character, and identity.

The variable logo system reflects the brand’s inclusiveness, adaptability, and scalability. A supporting graphic system derived from Chinese brush strokes functions as a flexible platform capable of continuous transformation and expansion. Red is chosen as the brand’s primary color—one of the oldest and most naturally occurring colors—symbolizing both heritage and the bold energy of innovation.
